Hûman – Sufi Culture & Arts e.V. is a non-profit music and cultural association from Remscheid, Germany, founded by young academics and shaped by the Sufi tradition of Rumi.
who we are:
Active since 2014
The association began in 2014 as a group of friends meeting in a room near Remscheid’s main station. It was registered in 2015 and has been a recognised non-profit since 2016. Today it has its own clubhouse in the former Old Post Station, Ehringhausen 25.
Hûman describes itself as a cultural community, not a mosque congregation. It is non-political, non-partisan and rejects every form of radical ideology.
- Music
- Twice promoter of Sufi Devran at the Kölner Philharmonie: 1,428 tickets in 2016, around 2,000 guests in 2025.
- Europe
- Three Erasmus+ Youth projects as coordinator since 2024, with €101,771 in EU funding and partners from six countries.
- Courses
- Ebru (paper marbling), Hüsn-ü Hat (calligraphy), ney (reed flute) lessons and the Fulya kids club for ages 6–8.
- Remscheid
- The City of Remscheid lists Hûman among the particularly active cultural associations with a migration background in its Overall Concept for Cultural Education.
